THE POEM

England
Home of the NHS

THE AIR THAT HIT THE DOMINO
– the birth unit story?
– the relationship background
-The NHS advertising free dental care for pregnant women
That routine check up
-The absence of knowledge that I was walking into a dungeon
-Is it my sweet self, me being someone that just thought, like any ordinary Joe, that it was a safe thing to do, like not even questioning it, not even questioning it.

I did not know
I was walking into a white and blue dungeon

The appointment was free

I had not long had my first baby

I was 21

I was doing what you were supposed to do, “looking after my health” by having a routine check up as I hadn’t had one in a while

Nothing frightening.

Nothing I thought I needed to know

I didn’t know
there was anything to know.
